“Where’s Waldo” is a series of children’s books where readers are challenged to find the cleverly hidden Waldo in the picture. A greater question for us is not “Where’s Waldo?” but “Where’s Jesus?” Sometimes Jesus is just another face in the crowd, hidden by the clutter of life. The Ephesian believers lost Jesus in the midst of their “works” & church life. Jesus commended them for the perseverance in hardship & diligence in doctrine but adds, “Yet I hold this against you; you have forsaken your first love.” (Rev 2:4) We cannot afford to be absorbed by this world & minimize the presence & love of Christ. If we do, He becomes like Waldo, overshadowed by other attractions, desires & loves. It’s time to make Him first again…in time, place & love!
