The Israelites believed God was oblivious to their rebellious ways and did not see, hear or know the details of their personal lives. Isaiah writes, “Woe to those who go to great depths to hide their plans from the Lord, who do their work in darkness and think, who sees us? Who will know?” (Is. 29:15) It is foolish to think the omniscient and omnipresent God does not see or know the ways of man. Adam hid from God and covered his body with fig leaves but he could not cover his sin. God called for Adam, not because He did not know where Adam was hiding but called because Adam needed to confess his sin. God still calls men to confession and repentance…it is foolish and futile to ignore His voice.
