Peter writes to Christians in Asia minor to remind them of God’s faithful promises, especially the second coming of Jesus Christ. The message of Christ’s return was well known and taught in the early church. Some doubted He would return and false teachers said Christ’s return was a hoax. Peter’s response, “But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: with the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.“ (2 Peter 3:8) God’s timetable is not our timetable because 1 year to us is like 1 minute and 26 seconds in heaven! God operates in the eternal, not the temporal. It is easy to minimize His return when we live for the moment so live for something eternal and certain. Jesus is coming again…He Promised!
